The Caribbean American Poetry Association and Preservation Long Island are pleased to celebrate Juneteenth and Caribbean American Heritage Month with a poetry event in honor of Jupiter Hammon, America’s first published Black poet. Join us at Joseph Lloyd Manor as we honor Hammon’s legacy with an afternoon of poetry, history, live music, and refreshments. The program will take place outside in the garden and include poetry readings and performances from Dr. Lindamichelle Baron, Keisha-Gay Anderson, and Yasmin Morais. Long Island students are also invited to share their own original poetry in an open-mic session. The event will begin at Joseph Lloyd Manor at 2:00 PM.
